Camera and darkroom for iPhone

Shoot it like a magazine shot it.

Nimu Cam gives you the controls a real camera gives you, ISO, shutter speed and focus, and 29 filters built from the maths behind film stocks and magazine grades. You see the look in the viewfinder before you press the shutter.

Manual, or automatic in one tap

The controls a photographer expects.

AUTO and MANUAL sit side by side at the top of the screen, so you can switch mid shoot without hunting through menus. In automatic, the app still shows you what the iPhone chose, which is the fastest way to learn what a camera is really doing.

Shutter speed

From 1/8000 to a full second, in the third stops a real camera uses. Freeze a runway walk, or let a night bus smear across the frame.

ISO

Set sensitivity yourself and keep it there, so a whole series matches instead of drifting frame to frame.

Focus

Tap to focus, or take the focus ring yourself and lock a distance so it stops hunting between shots.

A real light meter

In manual, a meter across the top shows how far your exposure sits from the reading, the way it does in a viewfinder.

Aperture, honestly

An iPhone lens has a fixed aperture, so no app can really change it. The dial is marked SIMULATED: it recreates the exposure f/8 would give you, and it says so.

Every lens

Ultra wide, wide and telephoto, with the zoom buttons where your thumb already expects them.

29 filters, none of them bought in

Written as maths, not copied from a preset pack.

Each look is a colour grade plus the physical side of film: grain, vignetting, halation, light leaks, dust, scratches. The squares below are being graded in your browser right now, by the same code the app runs on the phone.

The Darkroom

Photos you already took, developed again.

Open any picture from your library, try every filter on it with live previews, set how strong it should be, and hold the screen to compare with the original. Saving always writes a new photo, so the original is never touched.

Strength, not just on or off

An intensity slider takes any look from a whisper to the full thing.

Hold to compare

Press and hold to see the original underneath, the way you would flick between two prints.

Nothing is overwritten

Your original stays exactly as it was. Every save is a new picture.

Free, with one honest limit

Everything works before you pay anything.

The camera, manual mode, the Darkroom and all 29 filters are free, with no trial and no countdown. The only thing the paid version changes is the file you save.

Privacy

Your photographs never leave your phone.

Nimu Cam has no accounts, no analytics and no servers of its own. Filters run on the phone's own chip, which is why the app works in airplane mode. The only time a picture leaves is when you share it yourself.

No account

Nothing to sign up for, nothing to sign in to.

Every filter is computed on the device, including the ones on this page.

Questions people ask first

Short answers.

Can it really change the aperture?

No, and neither can anything else on an iPhone: the lens is fixed. The dial recreates the exposure change and is labelled as simulated.

Does it shoot RAW?

Not yet. Photos are saved as high quality JPEG with their original EXIF, including the ISO and shutter you chose.

Will it work on my iPhone?

Any iPhone running iOS 17 or later. It runs on iPad too, with a layout made for the bigger screen.

What happens to photos I already saved with the watermark?

They keep it. Open them again in the Darkroom after buying Pro and save a clean copy.

Put a camera back in your hands.

Free to download, free to shoot with, and the filters are yours to keep whether you ever pay or not.
